Surface Prediction
nSpec uses Surface Prediction Algorithms to estimate the surface topology of a sample. Given the z-heights of a set of user-determined focus points, the algorithms create prediction surfaces of the samples. This prediction allows nSpec to image each sample tile with accuracy.
The surface prediction algorithm, also referenced as Predictive Focus Algorithm in the nSpec UI, is chosen in the Autofocus Setting dialog. Read more about the parameters and use cases for each algorithm at Predictive Focus Algorithms.

All scans run with autofocus enabled can view a Flatness Report which displays the function generated by the surface prediction algorithm. The flatness report can be viewed at nView > View > Flatness Report.
